Mothers' Union

Mothers’ Union was founded in 1876 by Mary Sumner, a Rector’s wife in the village of Winchester.  Becoming a mother made her aware of how little preparation and support women received for motherhood.  She invited local mothers from all backgrounds to her home to offer them the opportunity to learn together, to develop their faith and to support each other.  Hence the beginning of this wonderful organisation.

The Derriaghy Branch was founded in 1958 and on Sunday 15th April 2018 the Branch celebrated its 60th Anniversary with a Service of Thanksgiving in Christ Church, Derriaghy.  The guest speaker was Miss Maud Kells, a retired missionary nurse in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.  To mark the auspicious occasion the members of the Mothers' Union presented the parish with a new set of Holy Communion linen.

If you would like to join us please come along on the 1st Wednesday of each Month at 7.30pm to the Parochial Hall.   You would be most welcome.
