Prayers

Sunday 24th May

Lord God we come into your presence today needing even more at this time of uncertainty the reassurance that you are with us. We know that in Christ you experienced human emotions and so understand how we feel. There is so much suffering throughout the world and so many doubts about the future. We bring before you all who are sick or bereaved, those who are anxious about their mental or physical health or the health of others and we think especially of those we know …………

Lord in your mercy.

God of creation we thank you for the good weather we have been enjoying, the beauty of nature that we see all around us, the miracle of new birth and the certainty that some things are still the same and will never change. We thank you for the human contact we have been able to maintain through modern technology and now hopefully more so face to face.

Lord in your mercy.

Once again we bring before you all who work in our hospitals and care homes. We are also grateful for so many key workers who keep our economy going. We pray for politicians both locally and nationally that they might have wisdom to make difficult decisions which will affect us all. Forgive us that we are quick to criticise them without knowing all the facts. We thank you for so many people giving their time voluntarily to help others and for the many acts of kindness and compassion we will never know about.

Lord in your mercy.

Lord God we pray for our church family. Although we cannot meet together we are still one with you and you are still present with us. We thank you that we will soon be able to once again come into the church building. We thank you for all the unseen work that is going on in the Parish and look forward to the time when we can be together. We thank you for the faith you have given us and the compassion you have shown us.

We pray all these prayers in the name of Jesus, your risen and ascended Son our Lord.  Amen.
